Catherine Sakakeeny, DVM

Dr. Catherine Sakakeeny

A specialist in veterinary emergency and critical care, Dr. Catherine Sakakeeny (formerly Foley), joined the Tufts VETS team in September 2009. She earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the Ohio State University in 2005.

Dr. Sakakeeny completed a rotating internship at the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006 and then went on to complete a three year residency in emergency and critical care at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston. Dr. Sakakeeny became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care in 2009. Her professional interests include acute renal failure, critical care anesthesia, nutrition, and sepsis. She was recently published in the Journal of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care.

In her free time, Dr. Sakakeeny enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her Border Collie mix, Red Dog, and two cats, Bitsy and Lucy. She also enjoys traveling, skiing, running, hiking, and good wine.
