Catherine Sumner, DVM

Dr. Catherine Sumner

Dr. Catherine (Caty) Sumner began her residency in emergency and critical care at Tufts VETS in July 2008. She splits her time between Tufts VETS and the Foster Hospital for Small Animals at Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in Grafton, MA.

Originally from Worcester, MA, Dr. Sumner graduated from Williams College in 2003, where she was a double major in biology and chemistry, with a concentration in biochemistry. She attended Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, from which she obtained her DVM in 2007. She did a one year rotating internship in small animal medicine, surgery, and emergency care at Angell Animal Medical Center before returning to Tufts for her residency. Dr. Sumner now lives in Walpole with a 11 year old dachshund, Bandit, that she rescued during veterinary school. In her free time, Dr. Sumner enjoys reading, hiking, sailing, and playing the piano and pipe organ.
