Important COVID-19 Guidance from Tufts VETS

With the rising threat of COVID-19, we have had to make some decisions necessary to protect the health of our employees and to protect you as our client while we continue to deliver care to pets in our community. The following new policies are effective immediately. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe environment for everyone who works at and depends upon Tufts VETS. We are committed to being here for you and your beloved furry family members.

Update on Hospital Operations:

  • Tufts VETS is open for urgent/emergency care only.
  • Clients will no longer be allowed to enter Tufts VETS. Please call ahead to discuss your pet’s condition so that we may advise you about the urgency of the problem. When you arrive you will call this number FROM YOUR CAR to engage with our ER – (508 668 5454). Veterinary staff will take your pet in and you will be asked to wait in the car for a doctor to call you. Similarly, when we are sending a pet home, the conversation about how you will care for your pet will be done by phone and you will receive your pet outside of the hospital.
  • No new appointments will be made at this time. Clients with existing appointments will be called to have those rescheduled for an anticipated better situation. Referrals requiring essential care will be managed through our emergency service.
  • Medication refills will be mailed. To request a refill, please call at least 5 days or more in advance.
  • Food pick-up will take place outside the hospital. Please call ahead (508 668 5454) to make arrangements.
  • We are not able to accept cash payments.

In Case of a Pet Emergency

Before leaving home, it is essential that anyone displaying fever, cough, or shortness of breath or who has traveled internationally in the last 14 days or to an area in the United States with high incidence of COVID-19 call ahead to discuss the situation so we can develop an appropriate clinical plan. Upon speaking, we may ask you to find someone else to bring your pet in to receive care. You can reach us 24/7 at 508-668-5454.
