Telehealth
With the increasing demand for remote healthcare services and to better align ourselves with the human healthcare community, some Tufts VETS specialty services offer teleadvice and telemedicine virtual appointments by telephone. These appointments may be used to gauge the need for an in-person visit, or to bridge the gap between existing patient visits. Clients wishing to speak with a doctor who have not had either a teleadvice, telemedicine, or in-person appointment within the previous 3 months will be assessed the appropriate telehealth charge.
Teleadvice Appointments
For patients that have not been physically examined by the Tufts VETS specialist within the past 12 months, we offer Teleadvice appointments. Teleadvice is a useful tool for general discussions of procedures, diagnoses and treatments that are not specific to a patient. These appointments do not include a physical examination of the pet, therefore no diagnostic or therapeutic recommendations will be made.
Telemedicine Appointments
For existing patients of the Tufts VETS specialty service that have an established veterinary client patient relationship (VCPR) with this doctor and who have been physically examined by this doctor in the past 12 months, we offer telemedicine appointments. These appointments can be used to discuss patient progress of an existing condition or a new condition. Since there is a current VCPR, medication adjustments and therapeutic recommendations may be made.
