Dr. Klaus Earl Loft, DVM, MS, has more than two decades of clinical and academic experience in companion animal dermatology. He earned his veterinary degree from the Royal Agricultural & Veterinary University of Denmark in 1999, followed by several years in private practice across Denmark and Sweden. His growing interest in dermatologic diseases led him to focus exclusively on dermatology, culminating in an American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD)-approved residency at Michigan State University, which he completed in 2007. Since then, he has practiced in the greater Boston and greater New England, joining Tufts VETS in 2025.

Dr. Loft has served as a past president of the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology and has served on multiple committees of the North American Veterinary Dermatology Forum.

Dr. Loft’s clinical and research interests include feline dermatology, chronic otitis, allergic skin disease, cutaneous oncology, and immune-mediated skin disorders. He has authored peer-reviewed publications and delivered continuing education lectures in Scandinavia and the United States. His practice is limited to dermatology, where he applies a rigorous, evidence-based approach to managing complex skin and ear diseases in dogs and cats. Through his work, he remains committed to advancing the standards of veterinary dermatology and mentoring future specialists in the field.
